I'm really excited for this opportunity that arose this summer. A friend and myself applied for a position, but it was unlike any application I've ever filled out. We had to submit a 60 second video and write a 500 word essay on why we would be good for the job. Writing was never an issue for me. I'm no Dr. Seuss, but I can articulate a point or express a thought with words both verbal and written. But how do you prove to someone who you are in 60 seconds? It's rhetorical, no answer expected but doing the video really made me think about who I was. You can go online to you tube and check out the many others people who have also applied for this job. There are a lot of great ones, but even watching other people throw themselves into a 60 second clip, I walked away with little information about "Who" they are. Maybe its a good thing; to not accurately depict yourself in a minute. I have my fingers crossed, as does Shannon and worse case scenario, we tried, did our best and weren't right for the job. I'm more likely to hold my head high, if denied for this job, then I would be for being denied a job at McDonald's or a Gas Station.......you feel me? How many people can say the same. I raise my glass in hopes and also in celebration for the lucky pair who is picked for this great opportunity.
............. In all honesty the first day or two will be rough if we don't win. I think there are a few normal reactions to loss and disappointment but in the end a sincere congratulations will be in order.
